What he had been searching for earlier in the day had unfortunately eluded him. Whatever it had been was too far away for him to catch up to figure out just what it was. It was a pity, but one that couldn’t be helped and Sephiroth found himself hoping that his useless remnants could shed some light on the situation ( ... )

Cloud sighed and grabbed the shovel, pushing it back in the sword compartment of Fenrir before he eased the cement cutter back in beside it. That was about all he could before he felt a strange sensation pulling at the back of his mind, and he tilted his head up to look around the area.

He felt a frown crease his brow as his eyes fell on something very eerily familiar, and he allowed a hand to immediately go to the hilt of his sword. He had suspected this after the conversation with Rufus, but nothing really prepared him for the appearance of the ex-General in the flesh. So... they were all coming back then?

He clenched his fingers over his palm at the words, and he felt a drop of his stomach as he realized that it was possible that Sephiroth might have seen *that*. He looked a little comfortable for a moment before he quickly pushed the emotion aside.

"...so you are back. I had my suspicions but nothing solid until now. What are you doing here?"

His enjoyment of the situation only seemed to increase as Cloud reacted to his presence. The words he had spoken had obviously hit their mark if that look of discomfort was anything to go by. Sephiroth didn’t hesitate in summoning the Masamune to his side as Cloud took hold of the hilt of his, and as the long blade stretched out back behind his body, he shifted himself into a better position to attack if the need desired it.

“I could ask you the very same thing,” Sephiroth smoothly murmured as the fingers on his left hand toyed with the very tip of Masamune’s hilt while his right hand held the weapon securely in place. “Oh I’m quite certain there are a many things you’re pathetically unaware of as per usual… but it seems to be a running theme with you.”

Remaining silent on what he’d witnessed for now, Sephiroth decided to file away that information for latter use - now was not the time to torment the traitor with suck knowledge.

Cloud was used to Sephiroth's little antics when it came to being insulted, and they no longer effected him. He stood a little straighter as the Masamune appeared but did not move to draw out his sword just yet. He had been hoping to avoid a fight for the day, but he would stop Sephiroth if he had to.

"What are you doing here," he asked again, ignoring any manner of trying to get him to lose his temper. That was difficult anyway.

Kadaj wished he could say the day had been a pleasant one, but as he drove into Midgar on his newly acquired motorcycle, it became blindingly apparent to him at least that it hadn't. After all, how the hell could he have been expected to enjoy himself when Sephiroth had decided to show up again?

Really, it was so nauseating. First the favorite swoops in and steals control as if he were actually welcome, then he disappears to do who knew what-- and where had he been, anyway? Not that Kadaj cared, of course, but if they were going to make any progress at all this time around, it would be in their best interests if all of them knew what the others had been up to. That was the purpose of this meeting in the first place, he knew, but that wasn't the point.

Well, whatever. He'd just deliver what information he'd gotten then leave Sephiroth's presence (oh, he couldn't wait for that part) and go back picking away at Shin-Ra. Maybe he could even get Yazoo in on the act. The more the merrier, right? It would be weird without Loz, but ( ... )

Parrying each of Sephiroth’s measured sword strikes, Cloud could feel the weight of the ex-General’s swing forcing him down towards the ground faster. That was not entirely a concern for him, and he more concentrated on keeping the Masamune from cutting him in two. He suspected that wasn’t Sephiroth’s intention, but he couldn’t doubt that the ex-General would take an opening if it appeared ( ... )

Smirking in response to Cloud’s rather surprising exit, Sephiroth tucked the Masamune back against his body after the traitor had used it as a jumping post. Landing after Cloud did, Sephiroth remained where he’d landed as the blonde slid further back towards Fenrir. He allowed the traitor to collect further weapons, amused that they always thought the need to further protect themselves ( ... )

The encounter with the Lapis WEAPON was still fresh on Yazoo’s mind as he headed back into Midgar to meet up with Kadaj and Sephiroth. Every few minutes he would flex his left arm to make sure that he still had control over it, but more so to ease his unsettled mind. Having a creature roaming around that could gain control of their weapon hands left him and his brothers at a disadvantage, and that was something that needed to be taken care of.

As he drew near to their designated meeting place, he was met with the sound of metal hitting metal, and the thought of not being able to leave Kadaj and Sephiroth alone for more than a few minutes filtered through his mind before he rounded a pile of debris and caught sight of what was really going on.

He frowned in disappointment when he spotted the familiar, spiky blond hair of Cloud and made his way over to stand next to Kadaj. “I wonder who started it?” he asked with a small smirk.
