That's so sad. I've often wondered why Moody was so "over the top," even for a wizard. I too have the impression that his personal physical losses were due to his fanaticism, not the cause of it.
Oh, so very dark and just a little bit chilling. Interesting to have this as backstory, explaining Moody's bitter and unwavering pursuit of Dark wizards. And, a grim as it is, I can't help but love that Severus finds a little bit of pity, as well as relief that he can't experience the same utter loss of losing a child. Very Snape, to my mind. You did a brilliant job working in all those prompts; I'm very impressed! (And distinctly jealous about the title. Great play on words!)
I'm not sure that Severus would handle losing a person so completely his as I imagine he'd believe a child would be-and perhaps he feels a bit of kinship with Moody because of the hyper-awareness they share. I'm glad that you prompted me with for this one (and that you didn't want slash *g*).
My husband's punning rubs off on me; happily, this time that turned out to be good. ;)
