On a related note, I was interested to see Senator Bayh retire. I met him when I worked on Greg Goodnight's campaign in 2000. I really liked what he had to say then. I like what he has to say now even more. They were always joking he was the next big star from Indiana. We'll see.

Course, the problems that need fixing in this system wont be fixed in two more years. More like 200 years of focused social change. But since moving 300 million people in the same direction is about as easy as herding a like number of cats, I expect my time estimate is optimistic. ^_^

I think people of both parties are trying to find the next hidden political superstar and groom them for 2012. America's not ready for 2012. It's hard enough getting us as a country ready for the next day much less two years from now.

And an aside: as much as I love Palin, I am pretty much tired of the MSM focusing exclusively on her. There are other stars out there, and they deserve some oxygen for the things that they are accomplishing and working on.

No, there is not. There never is and, in a way, there shouldn't be. Government is designed to change slowly, and slow it does.
Also, I hear this every year-almost always from fringe groups who believe they have more influence than they actually do and from real politicians who use that sentiment for their own advantage.
There is no tsunami. Nor is there a tidal wave.

I agree with you that our government was initially designed to change slowly. When, within our own lifetimes, we watched as successive legislative sessions (controlled by either political party) do end runs around the Constitution in a manner that would leave the Founding Fathers spinning in their graves, I'd say climate change was way overdue.
