The book was immediately abandoned, though, Taylor closing it and shoving it onto the nightstand once Jason was at her side. She sat up in the bed so she could see him better and rubbed her hands up and down his arms. "Nothin' too memorable," she murmured dismissively. "Ya' look tired, baby. Have you had anythin' to eat? How's Riggs? Ya' heard anythin'? Ya' want me to make ya' somethin'? I wasn't expectin' ya' home so soon. Come here," he murmured and pulled him into a hug, rubbing his back.

Jason let out a rough sigh and wrapped his arms around her in relief. "Hell, you feel so good, babe... I've been thinking about this all day. I missed you." He buried his face in her shoulder, more than content to let the embrace linger for the moment. "I ain't real hungry. I just wanna get outta this chair and lie down. I spoke to him today, he's doing better, but still not so good. He admitted to me he was scared... asked me to stay, that he needed me to stay. Which I have been, I just needed to come home and see you for a lil while. I'm really, really tired. Ain't been sleeping so well."

Taylor reluctantly shifted from the hug to push the bed covers down so she could sit on the edge. "That means ya' gonna come to bed and lie down with me for now. Ya' need to rest too, Riggs'll understand ya' need some chill out time too." She leaned over and started to untie his shoe and pushed the footrests of the chair away. "Outta the jeans too. Ya' ain't gonna be comfortable lyin' in them. I ain't surprised in anyway that he's scared. I can't imagine what it's been like for him to experience it when I was terrified enough just witnessin' it. Those fits... it was real scary to see. I didn't really know what to do, I just know ya' 'sposed to hold a fittin' person down. I can't believe he's gonna just have that now, but 'least they found it and they can treat it," she said, trying not to rambling in her worry for their childhood friend ( ... )
