On this very Olympic Fucking Fantastic Friday...

♥ Eight years ago, the Olympics were here in Australia, and we'd only just moved into this house. I remember watching the opening ceremony with my family in the living room with the TV just next to the fire. The next day we caught a plane (Virgin-- they'd only just launched in Australia and we had cheap cheap tickets) to head to Sydney. Those two ( Read more... )

I once heard that the two most common English words known in China (or maybe it was Japan) are "Hello" and "Coca Cola".

Most of those facts are listed on the back of Libra Pads anyway!

This time 8 years ago...we'd just moved to the country adn we bought a TV just so we could watch the Olympics!

I used to watch X-Files when I was a kid, its pretty awesome. I would definitely be interested in a movie night. But I think it would be better to do it in the hols (either Sept or summer) because most people will be crazy with uni stuff in a few weeks.

Also my unnecessary knowledge for the day: On average 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents daily (which is terribly sad!).

They are. But I told you my discovery about the Libra Pad facts right? How on one sheet there was once two completely different facts for Random Fact #45 or whatever. It makes me skeptical of how many facts they actually do have.

And yeah, the move night if I were to hold it would probably be in the holidays. I think my parents are gone for the upcoming holidays, so who knows what will happen.

Yep, you told me about that. I have issues with the one saying 'Winston Churchill was born in a ladies room upstairs during a party'....failing to mention it was a fucking aristocratic mansion of his grandfathers. Serious issues with that one.

Well, name a date and I'll tell work (or if I already have my roster, see if I can make it).

I knew that back in the classical era the Olympics had all sorts of things (it was also quite religious), I didn't know about the arts stuff in the modern games! I agree, they should bring it back. I want there to be televised recitations of the epic poetry entries! Seriously, I'd watch that.

Enjoy the opening ceremony! Mom, I, and a friend will be watching and knitting :)

By the way:
During World War II, the very first bomb dropped on Berlin by the Allies killed the only elephant in the Berlin Zoo.

Poor elephant :(
