I Hated the Batman Movie

Ok, here goes.

1) Batman wasn't interesting: The movie is supposed to be about Batman. He's supposed to be the main character. We're supposed to be involved with the character, worry about him, care about the things he cares about, etc. He's supposed to be likable. He's not. He's not at all.

The problem is manyfold, but for starters, Christian Bale ( Read more... )

I liked it. I'm a Batman fan of over 15 years. Suppose its open to interpretation. Its just another movieverse movie, and I love the Nolan stuff so much more than the lousy Burton and Shitmaker movies.

As for Hellboy: It was good. However the lamely tacked on romance plot makes me want to stab Del Toro in the eyes every time. Screw Lisa, she was hardly in the comics anyways.

For both movies:

Ironman was better.

As a batman fan, how can you reconcile the fact that they basically made Batman a loser? He never really does anything... he's outclassed at every turn. Be stumbles through most of the movie in a fog, barely keeping up with the other characters. And he can't move. He's supposed to be a ninja, but he can't move in his stupid suit and he drives a motorcycle that shoots rockets.

And when did he get a Q?

Batman has been a loser more than once read: The Killing Joke, Broken Bat, HUSH, and The Dark Knight Returns. Batman isn't always on top, he's not always in his element, I enjoyed that this movie didn't make him perfect.

To do otherwise would take away the part that really makes Batman cool, he's a human superhero. Someone that can be truly empathized with.

Also Fox was part of the earlier comics...i mean to cross ask questions: When in the comics did Batman get a degree in electrical engineering? He never made his gadgets outside the cartoons...he bought them. Money is Batman's superpower.

Don't forget that during the movie Batman killed - by my count - four dogs. Hard to empathize with a superhero who spends all of his time punching cops and killing animals.

The Dark Knight fucking sucked.

"GO SEE HELLBOY.

HELLBOY IS GREAT.

HELLBOY IS A GREAT FUCKING MOVIE GO SEE IT."

Seconded.

Then, watch Secretary, Nurse Betty, Shawshank Redemption, Equilibrium, Hannah and Her Sisters, Stranger Than Fiction, Muppet Christmas Carol, and remember how satisfying it can be to watch any of the really quite good actors from this atrocity in a good movie.

I don't think i'm going to change your opinion of the movie, but the submarine line was a gag... one that i particularly laugh out loud enjoyed - though in the cinema i was in seemed to go a bit unnoticed. bats use sonar, so the film being batman, the obvious line would have been "sonar, like a bat?" - but Freeman very dryly says "Like a submarine" instead. loved it.

Yeah, I had that pointed out to me later, though all it did was change my opinion from 'disdain for the viewer's intelligence' to 'a pretty ham-fisted joke'.
