Just after arrival, walking from the Hestia building to see what's up.

[John had seen and been to some extraordinary places, but a bundle of islands connected by little rope bridges wasn't something he'd ever come across before. Sure, there'd been those terrible pirate movies where they'd sailed to a nonexistent set of islands in a vaguely-mentioned body of water, but that was...well. He'd read and seen a few things ( Read more... )

[There's a woman just hanging out at the end of one of the bridges. She's having a mumbled conversation with herself, drawing some kind of diagram in the dirt next to her. She seems to be giving it a lot of thought, though she doesn't look very happy with it. She has a loaf of bread, which she is eating some of, and giving some to some gulls that realized she has food.]

[John stops mid-bridge, finishing his cigarette before carelessly tossing it over the edge and into the water. Whatever diagram she's drawing doesn't look familiar to him, which strikes him as rather odd. Having seen quite a pretty penny of them, there must be some other work at hand if he doesn't really recognize it right off the bat.

He takes a few steps forward and leans on the post, feet still on the bridge.]

What're you picturing there?

[She tosses some bread to the gulls and looks up at him.]

It's a map! I'm scouting the islands! I have to be ready when Isaac finds me!

[She then looks to the bread and holds it out toward the stranger, not seeming bothered by much of anything about him. Hell, he looks pretty normal by her standards. She's worn stranger things like that out in public.]

Do you want some?

[He eyes the bread a moment before lifting up a hand to wave it away. Anyone else would think she was a little odd, but...well. He'd seen and met odder.]

How long have you been here?

[Adam was just making his was back to Hestia from his bit of exploring for the day. He'd been spending far too much time lazily exploring the Science District once he found it, and taking his time to check out the various laboratories. It sated all his geeky needs. And it's not he had anything he could do since coming here, to stop himself from getting bored. And well not invading his room-mates personal space.

The cons of having to room with a girl who isn't your girlfriend.

He'd just reached the bridge when he spotted the guy. It was a little hard to miss. One, there weren't many people on the islands and it was easy to spot a new face. Two, who the hell would miss someone wearing a full suit on a tropical island? It was beyond stupid.

He cocked his head to the side, as the man drew closer, deciding to take the chance. It was a stupid idea sure, but Adam was bored. And curious.]

Haven't seen you before. You new here?

[John even wore his suits to bed at times. Not that he didn't shower and clean up and everything, but some of suits really took it from the ringer a lot more than most of the other ones did.

He stopped as the voice caught his ears and took a bigger puff of his smoke as he thought of how to respond. He'd just come back from Miria's and was still running on an empty stomach, so a thought struck him.]

Yeah, I'm new. Can you tell me how to work these debit cards before I starve to death?

[Adam shrugged.] Works just like a normal debit card or credit card. You go buy whatever you want, and pay using it. The cashiers will give you the bill. We already have some money in the accounts set up for us when we got here.

[Adam waited a moment.] If you like the cuisine, and you know a bit of your way around, there's a tiny Indian Restaurant next to the Hestia building. they have some good stuff there.

Indian food on an empty stomach plus a beer and bourbon won't do. [He rambled mildly to himself, taking a long drag and looking around.]

There anything like a Waffle House du Tropique around here?
