Prompt for October 22:
I come from...
Anthony Stark is growing quite tired of not having adequate help in his private workshop. Jarvis has finally impressed upon him that mechanical tinkering does not fall under the usual purview of butler-ing; Pepper will help, but only under duress and nowhere near as effectively as he would like; and the interviews he's held on the subject have left him wondering whether a competent mechanic is, in fact, anywhere to be found in all of Pittsburgh.
Today's interview just might change things, but he's trying not to be too optimistic until afterward. Dr. Stane expressed some reservations, when he heard Anthony was planning to interview a black man for such an important position; but then, he'd had reservations about women in the workplace as well, and without Miss Potts, Anthony would be sunk, perhaps literally. In any case, the man's coming with a very strong recommendation. It can't hurt to see what he knows.
When they get to talking, it quickly becomes apparent that the man - last name of Rhodes - knows his way around a workshop well enough to keep up, and could certainly learn enough to fill the gap. Between a brief stint in the military and years of ad hoc repairs in the steel plant, Rhodes has an impressive instinct for mechanical matters that will only get better as time goes by.
What's more, they can actually carry on a conversation. That's what made him hesitate about a number of previous candidates; there's little point in hiring someone who will be around the house quite a bit if he won't be able to talk to them.
By the end of the interview, it appears he's got himself a mechanic, finally.
