Prompt for July 12:
Someone has left a note on your car windshield.
She knows this isn't her best idea ever, but getting Tony to acknowledge that paperwork had taken longer than she'd anticipated. (Pepper really ought to know better about that one by now, especially when Tony's holed up in his workshop. She supposes she's lucky he wasn't out blowing up someone's weapons cache when she got there.) And it's crucial that this request get out by the end of the day, which makes her commute back to her apartment the best time she's got to work on it.
Of course, it's also crucial that the request be spelled properly before it leaves her hands; the difficulty she's having hitting the right keys is reminding Pepper why she doesn't usually type and drive at the same time.
She pulls up at a stop light, intending to clear out the morass of typos before it turns green, but the PDA - much to her surprise - speaks up before she gets the chance. "Put this down at once, Miss Potts. You needn't be attempting to do two things at once."
"...Jarvis? I appreciate you waiting for a red light to speak up, but how did - what the hell are you doing in my PDA?"
"I happened to be in the area. In any case, if you're that anxious to get the file on its way, I can compile it for you. But there is no reason for you to be risking your life for your job, at present, so put this down until you are done driving."
She can't really argue with that logic; in any case, she's definitely too startled now to manage anything vaguely coherent on that request. She lets the matter (and the PDA) rest until she's inside her apartment.
"All right," she says, propping the PDA up on the kitchen counter. "I kind of doubt it, but I have to check just to make sure - did Tony put you up to this?"
"Mr. Stark remains blissfully unaware," Jarvis says, "and I suspect he will remain so for quite some time. He trusts me to see to my own affairs. I simply thought you might appreciate the gesture."
If Pepper didn't know better, she'd say Jarvis is a bit worried about how she's taking this. Then again, he's always had a decent grasp on emotions, for an AI - and being stuck in a human body for a while probably enhanced that. Between that and his commentary on her unsafe driving... maybe he is worried.
She smiles. "I do appreciate it. And just so you know, that's not standard driving, for me. I just got carried away."
