quinby wrote a bit in this universe a week or two ago; we co-created it some time back. And it seemed like the logical extension of today's prompt, so!
For timeline purposes, Mark and Angel are in their sophomore year of college, but this is before Angel decides the performing-arts-college thing is doing the opposite of working.
Prompt for January 27:
Describe the contents of someone's closet.
"Angel? You in there?"
"Yeah. Come on in, but be careful - I'm cleaning."
Mark gets the door about halfway open before the stuff on the other side starts pushing back; that even more than the apparent fabric explosion gives him pause. "...What the hell are you doing?"
"Cleaning my closet."
"Is that what they're calling it these days?"
Angel sighs. "Well, the closet is in fact clean, now. It's just the rest of the room that's a disaster area."
"Long as you're aware." Mark shoulders into the room enough to at least get the door closed, and then goes back to eyeing the carnage. "Won't your roommate have something to say about this?"
"I'm sure he would, if he weren't going to be gone all weekend. Some kind of retreat thing for one of his classes."
"Oh. I'd offer to help, but I don't know if I'd end up wrecking your organizational system or what."
"There isn't a system, yet, but I was kind of thinking about getting rid of some stuff. Few of these things, I can't even remember why I thought the pattern was a good idea."
"Not to mention you've probably got a few dead pairs of shoes."
"Well, yes, but I'll wait to throw those out until I can get new ones."
"Point." Aside from the organizational nightmare that would be helping Angel sort through all her clothes, Mark's not pushing because he suspects the cleaning spree has something to do with Angel's increasing reservations about the whole school thing. He's not going to begrudge her a measure of control over something.
"Want to go get dinner, when you've found the floor again?"
"Sure. I could stand to get off campus for a while."
Mark smiles, then picks his way over to Angel's bed and settles in to watch.
