So what's one of the last things you want to hear on a plane (other than "I've had it with these mother fucking snakes on this mother fucking plane!" ) as you've been circling your destination airport for what seems like an unusually long time?

How about, "We seem to be having problems with the flaps on the wings.  They are not coming up evenly so

Although uncertain of the emergency levels here at the airport, anytime the runways and taxiways have been cleared and they circle long enough for 20 fire trucks to show up and get into position....well....you in danger girl! Hopefully your second flight was less eventful.

I figured it was bad when the pilot used the word "crash", but they never had us get into the crash landing position so I wasn't sure how serious the emergency was.

As for my second flight, wait until my next post!

American Airlines - of which I'm a frequent flyer/Gold member. It sounded like English was the pilot's second language, so I'm not too sure he knew how loaded the word "crash" was in such an emergency.

Well the flight attendants didn't look too worried, although after we landed and saw all the firetrucks, I said to one of the flight attendants who was sitting in front of me, "Wow! All this for us!" She admitted that she had never been in a situation where the flaps wouldn't go up evenly so she wasn't sure what to expect.
