Normally he'd go home, make some food, read a book. But lately he'd been spending a lot of his free time with Claire. He enjoyed her company, found its breath of fresh air. He knew it was dangerous, that as soon as she realised that the chances of getting her car back were slim, she would leave, head off out of town. But in the meantime, he was enjoying talking to her.
Today however, with his free hour, he found his attention turning to the music stand on the far side of the room. It had been a while since he'd playing anything, and he felt a peace as soon as he picked up his clarinet

It was lucky for her that his back was to her then as she leaned against the door frame and watched. For some reason it didn't surprise her that he played though maybe it surprised her that he played the clarinet.
