Claire was staring quietly at the phone while she should have been getting ready for her night out with Klaus. Really, it was a surprise he was taking her out but she knew that he felt comfortable in doing so ever since he did that mind thing with her. The 'compulsion' as he called it. It was the only thing that kept her ( Read more... )

Halloween was a ridiculous holiday where humans ran around pretending to be things they would have to pay far higher of a price to be, truly, usually. Or that he'd be happy to make them (those that dressed up as ghosts). They had no idea what walked among them, the power that wrapped around their world.

Klaus was just fine with that, but it didn't leave him overly impressed with the holiday.

Still, humans liked it, and he couldn't sit around the suite, staring across the park, figuring how many blocks it was to the house where Elijah and Rebekah were. The actual concept of dressing up was a little ridiculous--though he'd been happy enough to do it for the decade dance. That in mind, he'd refused to pull back out that tux, but he'd gone for a similar era, though more mobster than gentleman about town.

He turned when he heard Claire's voice and took in her costume with a growing smirk.

"Very, very nice, love."

Claire took the minute it took him to notice her to study him. He was brooding again, staring out the window with a troubled look and she knew that he was thinking about the siblings that he had come looking for. Not that he had gone to them straight away though. Instead, here they were in an expensive hotel and he was just...waiting.

When he finally looked at her, she smirked while doing a slow little turn so he could take in the whole costume.

"Thank you." She replied then as she faced him again. "And thank you for having them rush it over."

Making her way over to where he was sitting, she perched on the arm of his chair, crossing her legs while tapping the riding crop lightly against his thigh. "Why don't you call them?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.

"I did promise to make sure you enjoyed yourself," he said, watching her come over to him, pleased she didn't seem intent on avoiding him. He had to make sure she didn't run away, of course, but she could have still made things wretchedly unpleasant for herself.

Her question made him scowl a bit, though. "Because I don't want to, yet."

He had to think. Make sure they wouldn't just...toss him back out when he showed up on the doorstep.

Perhaps it was being aware that causing trouble would just make things bad for herself or maybe it was her lulling him into a false sense of security. Or maybe she figured she should just enjoy herself for however long this was going to go on. Plus he hadn't 'pimped' her out yet, so it wasn't so bad.

"Are you nervous?" She asked softly, not really considering the fact that it was probably dangerous to ask him too many questions. Claire had always been the reckless sort but she would also guess that he really didn't have too many people to talk to.
