That's a relief for never_small

Claire was relieved that she wasn't going to get fired from her job because despite all the crazy stuff that had happened since she started, she actually liked her job and it was helping her figure out that maybe she would like to go into research.  Plus Hank was fun to work for even if he had mood swings.  Most of the time he was fun and he could ( Read more... )

Hank came into the lab as promised, five minutes after sending Claire that final message. He didn't actually need her blood, he just had a few sore muscles, but he couldn't resist the temptation to try something new. He slipped into the lab, locking the door behind him and clucking his tongue at the sight of Claire.

"You're all set, aren't you?" he asked, holding out his hand for the needle. "Give me that, let me draw the blood. I know you can heal it if you do it wrong, but there's no sense in you having to heal it."

Claire looked up as Hank came into the lab and she watched him, with a little smile, as he locked the door behind him. Then she shrugged a little bit, "What can I say? I'm efficient." Truth was, she was also fidgety. She was curious to see this work even if he really didn't need it.

Handing over the needle, she pursed her lips into an amused smirk, "Well, it wasn't like I was just going to stab myself and hope." She'd prefer he took the blood though. Rolling up her sleeve, she laid her arm on top of the table edge. "So how are you doing?"

"I've been better," he said honestly. He bent over her, rubbing and pressing at the crook of her elbow until the vein popped up. Sliding the needle easily in, he pulled the plunger back, filling the syringe a little over halfway. He wasn't really hurt, and that ought to serve just fine. "Janet's back in town."

He'd never talked to Claire about his wife or their relationship, but he was sure that someone else had. She knew his circle of friends and acquaintances, and someone would have mentioned it by now. Probably Banner.

Claire had made a promise and as much as she hated lying, she wasn't going to look at it that way. Instead she blinked a little bit as she brought her eyes to his face right as he slid the needle into her arm. "That's the ex-wife, right? Well, she left?" She corrected herself just a bit.

No, they had talked about it for two seconds where he brought Jan up and then they agreed that Claire would never bring it up. She had stuck to that too. Hadn't even really heard anything until Bruce told her that she was back. "Have you talked to her?"
