Don't know why, but I had to write this and because I've been pretty mean to my YooMin... had to use another pairing. This is quite possibly the shortest fic I've written, other than a drabble.
Title: Promises
Pairing: Yunho/Jaejoong
Genre: Angst
Rating: PG-13
Summery: Some people break promises, while others keep them.
He watches him pack his things with tears rolling down his cheeks.
"You said you loved me," he tells him, his eyes moving back and forth, back and forth, from the closet to the suitcase, from the dresser to the suitcase, from the bathroom back to the suitcase. Always back to the suitcase.
And it keeps filling up with his belongings, his socks, his pants, his shirts, the black v-neck sweater he bought him for his birthday.
He's leaving him.
This time for real.
"You said you'd stop," he responds with no emotion. Cold and dead, like the look in his eyes. His hands are full with deodorant, his toothbrush, his cologne that reminds him of mornings in the mountains, soap and his favorite shampoo.
It's too late.
Because he promised him the last time would be the last time but the drinks never stopped and the music was sinful and the lights were blinding.
He didn't even know the guy's name, the color of his eyes, the sound of his voice. The little voice that was supposed to remind him of his promise drowned in glasses filled with tequila and vodka.
It wasn't around when he needed it to tell him no.
It wasn't around to stop him so he did it again; followed the stranger past the thumping walls and starry darkness into a dirty bathroom desecrated by graffiti and the foul stench of urine.
He was too drunk to even see his face and he didn't even come.
But he knew the moment he kissed him, he tasted different. The moment he touched him, he felt used and it was the end.
"You promised to never leave me," he cries out, voice shaky and raw, his eyes too wet to see straight.
And he looks at him, filled with disappointment and regret. "You promised me too," he answers with painful sadness and no tears as he zips up the suitcase and pulls it from the bed. "I'll come back later for the rest of my things," and he walks out of the room.
But he can't let him leave.
Not like this, not when he knows it will kill him.
He has to stop him so he flies out of the room after him, down the stairs, his chest heaving in painful gasps of searing air that hurt his lungs.
"Stop!" he cries out when he's at the door, running full speed until he's in front of him and all he wants to do is hold him and kiss him and beg him to stay. Because he loves him. Because he's everything in the world to him. Because it's always been him. "Yunho, please," he whispers brokenheartedly, "I love you."
Yunho sets the suitcase down, closes the distance and kisses him. Perfectly soft, wonderfully delicate and filled with love made of gold.
It makes him cry harder and he never wants to let him go, wrapping his arms tight around his neck, holding him close so he can feel his heart beat.
"Please don't do this," he presses against his mouth, whispering past the salty tears, clutching at his shirt. "Please, Yunho, I love you."
"I love you too, Jaejoong," he kisses him one more time and looks into his auburn eyes, seeing into his soul as his hands come up and gently pull them apart. "But you promised."
And he leaves and doesn't look back.
"I swear, Yunho, it was the last time. I swear it."
"No, Jaejoong, I want you to promise me."
"I promise."
"If you do it again, I'll leave. I'll leave and won't look back."
"I promise never again. I promise."
