Feedback needed

I'm finally back to working on the natural form dress for the event I can't go to. Hehe. Anyway, I'm trying to decide on what color to do the embroidery on the bodice/corselet. I've narrowed my options down to either a pale blue that matches the blouse and underskirt color, or a contrasting deep red. In the pictures, I've embroidered samples on ( Read more... )

For what it's worth, I prefer the blue. The dark blue and the dark red compete so much that the embroidery kind of gets lost, at least in these pictures. Can you use the deep red color somewhere else on the dress?

It depends on how you trim and accessorize. A red hat or gloves could make it work, as long it isn't overdone.

There's a favorite Monet painting of mine, of a woman dancing in a white natural form gown. The gown is just barely edged in orange, and she's wearing an yellow belt and orange hat. That little bit of trim just pops with hat. I was struck how I'd have matched the hat to the belt or made the belt in orange, but picking up on that wee bit of orange edging worked better.

Could you do the central flower in red, or change the embroidery design to include small red flowers? Red touches wouldn't make it as overwhelming, and break it out of the matchy-matchy look while keeping it flexible with other outfits.

I like the blue. The light shade has more contrast with your fabric.
