The Thor II/Agents of SHIELD Two For One Post

Nov 17, 2013 16:55

I was discussing the whole 'Coulson isn't dead anymore' thing elsewhere, but most of what I wanted to say drifted firmly into Thor II, so look! A real fannish post!

In which there are spoilers for Agents of SHIELD and Thor: The Dark World... )

Haven't seen last week's episode yet, but I can't say as I'm surprised - I've been picking up subtext since the first episode that the Coulson in Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. may not be the Agent Coulson of the movies.

I liked the movie quite a bit and talked it up in my own LJ post, but I have to 'fess up that I've dropped watching Agents of SHIELD at this point, so whether or not Coulson is a robot is moot. I go with my headcanon and I'm a happy camper that way.

I do wonder where Odin is--mostly likely NOT dead, despite Loki's hatred of him--and wouldn't it be a kick if Loki ended up being a decent ruler? Methinks he'll be bored out of his mind fairly quickly, but still it would be hilarious if he did well.

I found the preview for Winter Soldier to be sort of . . . grim, actually. I'm not all that thrilled by political thrillers and this looks to be eyeballs deep in conspiracies, etc. We'll see if other previews change my impressions.

I think Odin went into Odin sleep (or something similar) due to all the trauma (losing Frigga, Thor and Heidall betraying him, and now Loki's dead) and Loki stashed him somewhere and took over. (I want to headcanon that Loki did it for good reasons, like to keep up pretense that Asgard is still strong and has its ruler, but... I don't know at this point).

Yeah that's what I remember from the New Mutants storyline, when they first went to Asgard. There was a big deal about certain gods running amok because Thor was in Midgard and Odin was in reparative stasis.

The thing I find amusing is if Loki has to imitate Odin to rule, then he has to make decisions, act, etc, like the real Odin, or else someone will start to suspect. That would be amusing as hell to watch.

And why was there no Loki funeral? or even body retrieval? Isn't that on Thor's to-do list?

I never read the comic books, but I guess an induced coma or Odin being stuck in the boonies is not out of the question.

I'm hoping Santa will bring me a blu-ray player for Christmas...
