If you've ever reminisced about the good old internet days of fandom, or wondered what it was like back then, this set of posts is what you're looking for. For me, it was such a blast from the past since Arduinna and I met on those old lists and IRC way back when. I can't believe all the details she's remembered! I started thinking all over again ( Read more... )

I'm commenting all over the place over there. Such great memories! I think it was November of 98, that I met her, otterevil, & yarrow_blue in Cape Cod. There was Chumbawumba, some book I can't remember the title of, that Arduinna had two copies of that had something to do with writing gay sex scenes - I think - that were passed around one rainy day, me washing a lot of dishes, and all of us breaking into a pirate museum in Provincetown [g]

That is still one of the best memories of my life :) And I miss the excitement of planning for cons - seeing the actors/writers was nice, but seeing you guys was the whole point!

I don't remember the book, but definitely Chumbawumba and the Vachon passion song and discovering that you had a vicious competitive streak:)

I have been hanging around LJ since May 2005
My first days in ff were in Lord of the Rings......when I came home from seeing Return of the King, I googled Aragorn and Legolas and found ff. I had no idea what it was.....
I found a terrific site.....it noted in large letters:
NO SLASH and NO MARY SUES
I was such a newbie that I had to ask the moderator what slash and Mary Sue meant.
I started reading on that site and could not believe it.
From there I found much more and actually discovered LJ as a result. I forget who told me about LJ............
I also read M7 (and beta) and SGA........but have never left LOTR.

LOL, Wayback machine there. :)

I still have alot of the old FK and SKL email somewhere on some hard drive. Probably some IRC logs, too. Maybe some pics, not sure? Hopefully not of me, ugh.

Now that my life is back on track and healthier, would love to get together with you two sometime, perhaps to visit some of your beautiful local scenery (or Yellowstone).
