Fandom Boyfriend

Been meaning to ask thoughts on this term. I see it used a lot, and I sort of get it, but I don't [g] So what does the term 'fandom boyfriend' mean to you? Is it your favourite character? The one, if he were real, you'd want as a boyfriend? Or the one who'd want to be your boyfriend? Or is it more along the lines of a friend who's a boy? None of

I've never used the term myself, but when I see it, I take it to mean that it is the guy who you wish was your boyfriend. And since most people fancy more than one person/character, it's the one who you currently fancy the most. For a long time I would have said it was Ezra, but right now it's Daryl Dixon. :)

When I see it - and more importantly - when I use it I take it to mean the guy (or gal) you enjoy spending time with or think about in terms of fanfiction. It may mean the actor in terms of you really like them and would like to follow their careers more closely. If it's just the character then it would mean watching a show or episodes because that character is involved. Or you would like to expand that character's storyline via fanfiction - either reading or writing more stories involving that character

Well, I decided to go with the first commenter, since I had a meme to post. I don't connect the actors with the characters in these sorts of things, so I didn't account for whether I'd want to follow the actors careers or not. And I'm not really involved in any fandoms currently, not like I used to be at any rate, so that wasn't really a factor either.

And now, I don't think I understand the term anymore than I did to start! [g]

That makes sense. So since I can't pick a real person, I just need to use my own criteria, I guess. So my choices stand - for this year, at least [g]

But if I used yours, I guess Peter wins. After all, he's the only actor whose fanclub I've ever joined, and I've seen him more in RL than anyone else as well.

My "boyfriend" is Benedict Cumberbatch. Not Sherlock, because Sherlock is kind of a dick. For me, it's more like a celebrity crush.

If I were to have a character as a boyfriend, I would probably pick Remus Lupin--if I could seduce him away from Sirius Black. (They're kind of my OTP)
