Yes, I'm really curious about Steve and Tony meeting, too. I know Chris Evans has made a big deal of them being polar opposites but he hasn't bought up the whole Howard thing.

Hmm, that would be a cool connection with Iron Man 2 to have it be the same energy and it did sort of look like when Loki got whisked away but...this is horrible, but I'm hoping not just on the basis of not wanting to see Nazi Elrond again...

That last time we see him, not giving up searching for Steve was very poignant.

I know! I thought it was especially telling because he doesn't start immediately on the cube when it's found. You know in any other circumstance, he'd be dying to see what makes it tick and everything but he cares more about his friend.

Do you think this is when he starts drinking?

It may be a contributing factor. But he had to feel as if he failed Steve, and probably more importantly, Peggy. They weren't 'fonduing' [g] but they were friends and had worked together in the SSR for a while.

Ugh, yeah, I've been thinking about it and Peggy did seem like the closest thing he had to a friend. He was probably close to Erskine, too.

Damn, that's sad...and now I have more fanfic in mind, dammit.

I also thought that the Red Skull was taken away by bifrost. ;-)

Nazi Elrond - Hugo Weaving so sounded like Elrond, except with a German accent. It was very distracting

I was alright until he said 'Ygdrassil', then I couldn't help thinking it too.

I'm fairly certain that was a bifrost, given that the cube was Asgard in origin (or at least Odin owned it at one point, I'm a bit fuzzy on the origins of the Cosmic Cube and of course comic-verse doesn't necessarily meant movie-verse). Knowing a little bit about how the Cosmic Cube stuff played out in the comics means I have a vague idea where The Avengers might take things, so I'm keeping my lips tightly sealed about anything else!

ever since the Matrix and Lord of the Rings, when I hear Hugo talking all I hear are those two characters....I call it his Agent Elrond voice.

suspect the avengers is going to rock

Saw Matrix so many years ago, I don't remember it,so my only point of reference is LOTR, so it just killed me LOL

Hugo is awesome but very distinctive, I too think of his other roles first. Funny, but I preferred it when he took his face off, it made him a different character to me.

I too am looking forward to the Tony-Steve meeting. I really liked Howard Starke and was sad to know how he turned out, brilliant yet an awful father. I too figured he must have been old when he finally had Tony. Do we ever hear anything about Tony's mom in the movies?

Haven't seen Thor myself yet but my bro said Red Skull dude most likely was transported there and will be back as a bad guy in the next movie. Bet Steve won't like that much.

And yes, I totally agree with the blue energy cube/element idea!

The only reference to Tony's mom is the part in the awards ceremony that talked about Howard and her dying ion the car crash/

There was also a reference in Iron Man 2, during the footage of Howard and little!Tony, where he yells for Maria to come get Tony. But it doesn't really tell us anything more about the movieverse version of her.
