I find it sort of sad that that makes more sense to me than the prequels did. I mean Star Trek is the older franchise. Natural for someone from it to want to run younger upstarts into the ground. I'd wonder why it took Spock so long to wreck the Stargate one, but a) Nimoy isn't getting any younger, and b) it does seem to have crashed with the Universe series.
