Comic Reviews for 07-05 and 11 AKA; Mr. Loman Doles Out the Harshness

Two sparse weeks made me getting to the shop not a priority, so I picked up this week’s and last week’s pull list yesterday, hence the absence of a review round-up last week.

Two events kick off for both Marvel and DC this week both spanning galaxies, involving epic wars, and are both relatively minor in the eyes of the mainstream buying public.  ( Read more... )

The ending to Nova pissed me off a great deal, because at first I thought that change might very well stick. Marvel has thrown a lot of disappointing "shockers" at us in the last year and I wouldn't put it past them. Still, Annihilation was very good and I will stick around for this but I will be seriously upset if it isn't rectified soon ( ... )

Wraith is a bit disappointing because he's every dark anti-hero of few words, ever. I'm hoping the twist is a "he's actually Rom" level surprise, but I have faith it'll pay off in the actual mini.

Nova's not dead, the suit even says so, the Nova-mind just deputized the nearest person who could be of use, a medic, to save Rich.

I don't read Ant Man, and I feel bad about it given all the good things I've heard.

Namor could be great if well written, so I'll check it out.

Here's where we violently differ. I think Kyle becoming Parallax for the duration of the Sinestro War (until he overpowers it, or gets help from the rest of the Five Green Musketeers) is great, because if he's to surpass Hal, or just take his place as one of the greatest Lanterns ever, he has to overcome the same obstacles, but in his own way. Hal had to beat fear as he is the most fearless Lantern, but Kyle used his fear to beat Parallax the first time out, so maybe he can tame it.

so apparantly beak got so hot cuz that's how the artist imagined him before he got his powers (i read an interview). but thats bullshit because weve seen that after M-Day, mutants with distorted physical appearances were left that way, as a sort of scar reminding them of the past. i love NW except the art. what was with Jubilee's HUGE...um...Jublees? shes a petite chinese girl, not some porn star Joan Jett. ah, well.

Fact: Jubilee's fireworks power was a secondary mutation. Her original mutant power was holding back monster-sized juggs.

Look it up dummy.
