So yesterday was St. Jordi's Day (St. George) here in Barcelona --  celebrated by giving books and flowers to your loved ones ....everybody's out and about with book stands and roses for sale on every corner.  It was a lovely late spring evening  and the streets were heaving with people looking at and buying books and flowers and having generally

OK, that is basically the perfect holiday. I motion to scrap Valentine's day and replace it with this.

absolutely. I mean BOOKS, WRITTEN ON PAPER BOOKS=ROMANCE
It's so great how absolutely everyone is so into it. My boss was late coming into work SO HE COULD GO BUY HIS WIFE THE RIGHT BOOK. And they had already bought their daughter the St. Jordi's day book she wanted....
From what I understand, they don't really do Valentines in Barcelona much at all, in fact the folks that I've met think it's kind of lame compared St. Jordi's..

I think my choice is simple: adopt this holiday as my own or move to Barcelona.

And yes, there is nothing, NOTHING more romantic than someone spending time finding the perfect book for you.
