Oh wow. Oh wow. My wish actually came true. The picture is so much clearer now.

Aoshi-sama is the man I have looked up to my entire life - he is my childhood idol. And the man I love. He was the traitor. He attacked Jiya ... Gramps ... and slaughtered him. He had chosen to side with our enemy because all he cared about was obtaining revenge for ( Read more... )

Your wish actually came true?

It did. The partial memory I received was made whole.

I cannot help but feel like I wasted my wish, if that is the case.

That depends on your recent wish and what memory of yours would possibly be made whole again.

I'm glad things are more clear to you now, Weasel Girl-san.

Vengeance is a difficult road to

Betrayal

I am sorry that your former life was full of such hardship. I hope that more pleasant things come to light for you soon.

Thank you but this is only one memory of who knows how many. Just because this one is painful doesn't mean that I have had such a hard life. For all I know, this could simply be the worst one and I have had more pleasant memories in general.

Your wish came true, eh? I suppose I should try it, too.

But what if there was a good reason behind the betrayal--something that maybe you don't know about or wouldn't understand unless you could put yourself in his -Aoshi-san's- shoes?

... I don't know. I can't possibly imagine what reason would begin to justify harming one of your allies and friends. I can't possibly begin to understand what he was thinking in the first place.

...I suppose there aren't nearly enough clues to work with, even if you did find out what the context behind the memory was. But you're right--it's not like something like that could be so easily justified.

I'm sorry.

Yeah, it still isn't nearly enough. But at least it's something more to work with and try to understand.

It's all right. It's not your fault. I should probably just learn to suck it up and deal with it.
