So I spoke off the cuff at my brother's wedding because that is how I do stuff. I think it came off okay, but I wanted to extend it here and wrote more things I've been thinking about since I put the mic down. This isn't what I said, but is all revolves around the same concept

I think the legal side of marriage is, for most couples, just an afterthought. My partner and I are personally considering having a wedding without even having it legalised, so I think there's a lot more to a marriage ceremony than the legal side of it. I think it's something of a friends and family acknowledgement and celebration of the love people share. x

Hope you don't mind me adding you, by the way. I found a few things you said on a community pretty interesting, and I'm finding your journal thought-provoking.
