I like this a lot; I especially like how you captured the dichotomy of what Alex is feeling, how he's worried about Michael but also just accepts the choices that Michael is making and forces himself to deal with the fallout of that. This was a great line:

Right now, this thing, this quality that makes Michael Michael is a danger to him.
