:O I love how you use the language to paint this picture of the Doctor among all this isolation and then--the Master's voice coming to him, comparing it to the Big Bang, too!--it makes it seem like the Doctor's universe has suddenly expanded and he's suddenly more aware of the Master and of the other Gallifreyan. :DD

His voice always starts out slowly, quietly, whispering to him, calling his name - like the first tentative notes of a concerto - and then it crashes down on him, washes all over him; powerful music chimes and swells and grows louder; it’s like opera. *_______* Music! ♥

I like how you make the Doctor live in silence, and the Master live with the sound of the drums. It's so... evocative and pretty. :)

They could share the drums and the silence; that way none would be too unbearable.
If you're talking about the drums and the silence not being unbearable anymore, I think "neither" would work better than "none" in this sentence. But anyway, I love the Doctor's yearning for home (... Gallifrey got destroyed, right? Cue my
