Haven't seen the show, but loved the story. It's bitter, sorrowful, yet in a way hopeful... or is it just me?))

So true, I've avoided season 5 (except the ep "You're Welcome") until I felt curious enough about seeing Amy Acker as Illyria. Not even halfway through the first episode featuring Illyria, I was totally hooked.

And I love Wesley/Illyria. Not in the romantic sense, but in the sense "he can't love her because she killed the love of his life and took over her body." I love the push-and-pull aspect of those characters together and you perfectly captured that.

Actually Season 5 was where I started to watch Angel)) Because I knew there was Spike. I never expected to fall as much in love with the show as I did after it, so I watched the other seasons too)))
I loved Illyria instantly. I must admit I was surprised when she actually joined (sort of) Angel's team: I thought she would be their enemy or smth. But this was so unexpected and original! And her interaction with Wesley came out perfect! I can only imagine how much torment seeing her was for Wesley.
