BtVS 5x16: The Body [half-meta, half-reaction post]

I've been doing my BtVS rewatch marathon and I'm currently on season 5 and I got to the hardest, most excruciating episode of the entire show - "The Body". There is no part of the episode where I wouldn't cry my eyes out. Admittedly, I have personal history with it too: last year I, for some inconceivable reason, thought it would be a brilliant

I don't have anything really to add to this except YES. I haven't seen this episode in years, but I could still picture everything so vividly as I read this. Such a great and heartbreaking episode of television.

I think it's even more powerful because it's framed by utter wackiness like Crush, I Was Made to Love You, Intervention. So much like Joss to place a serious, powerful and gut-wrenching piece amidst the funny ones and watch all the viewers cry their eyes out. XD

Pretty much just YES to all of this, I can't think of much to add. I remember some of the shots in the first scene with Buffy - the way the EMT's head was cut off at the top, the XCU on the phone, stood out as odd and surreal the first watch but now I don't even notice them because I'm so focused on the drama
