The Internet: conduit of music, news, and art, repository of great learning and the highest works of literature, home of lively intellectual debate and scene of some of the great passions of our time. So where am I spending my time these days?

I Can Has Cheezburger?

Cute cat pics with stupid captions FTW.

The pictures are cute, and the captions would be amusing if they weren't in some stupid fake dialect...

There are scholarly papers on that dialect. It's strange, yet charming, how the academic world works. The original was an imitation of not-so-bright online posters, but it's turned into something completely other, and now it has its own field of study.

That's the evil page that calls them lolcats. Tsk tsk.

No matter how depressed I am, all I have to do is go look at some cat macros and I feel better, at least for a little while.
I even have this site, Meme Cats in my favorites, lol.

I discovered I Can Has Cheezburger? last night as I was browsing the internet (and saw it on your LJ this morning and was like "fwee~ :3") and suddenly knew my life was, in fact, complete.

Usually I enjoy my cat photos unadulterated, but I think I stumbled across a weird Star Trek tribbles episode parody on that website last week. It was written in that strange dialect that you were discussing with tayafeth. I was convinced it had a vaguely jingoistic slant to it, but if you say it's a just a web thing, I guess I'll have to believe you.

If you really want cute kitties photos (without experiencing the sneaking suspicion that someone is tossing them around or shoving them into strange vessels against their wills or manipulating them with Photoshop), check out kittypix. With the exception of the odd poster who's never heard of spaying/neutering, it's innocuous, cute and frustration free.
