We're gradually getting settled in at the new apartment. I love the place, especially its roominess; 10 years crammed into our previous home has made me really appreciate room to swing my arms without knocking over a lamp.

What he's actually trying to say in that passage is that a chord of the same length as the radius subtends an angle of 60°, one sixth of a circle, which is true. He's annoyingly sloppy in his wording, especially when math and geometry are involved. This was far from the only place where I had to apply do-it-yourself editing to follow his arguments.
