Murder by death

Fresh off the AP wire:  Student Slain to Death Near U of Chicago.  I didn't realize the writers' strike included journalists.

I'm having a good time scientifically tracking down what's hanging my home computer.  It's been a classic "divide the problem space" exercise.  It happens in XP but not Ubuntu, so it's not the hardware.  It happens when ( Read more... )

Have fun while you're there. I'd recommend having some Tex-Mex while you're there. I recommend going to Ninfas. They're a Tex-Mex institution in Houston.

I'll try my best -- but you saw what happened to my Sonoran-food quest in Tucson. Kaaba leaves little time or energy for doing anything but crawling to the nearest restaurant for dinner.

I did, but I can't vouch for restaurants in Tucson. I can however vouch for the ones in Texas, even if you're talking about Houston. Chances are the locals you meet will know where the nearest one is to where you'll be.
I wish I was going to be at this Kaaba. I've been wanting to attend another one becuase I know the 'bill of faire' (if you will) changes a bit. But I liked that this one is in my native state.

Houston is more about the people you're with. I always have a great time because I know people there, but the city itself is less impressive, imo.

Thing is, I've found that there are almost always intriguing things to see in even the least promising cities. Novelty all by itself is a drug for me. I treasure things like the place I found in Norcross, Georgia where you can stand in front of one Waffle House and see another one a mile or so down the same road. In other words, I'm easily amused. :)

Yeah, I'm the same way, and from the perspective, Houston is as great as all the other places.

I wonder if one could hack a Google map to show all the locations around the world where one could sight a Waffle House within a mile of another Waffle House...
