At my job, I get cold calls from technical recruiters about once a day.  We don't use outside recruiters at the moment, and I always make this clear immediately.  Some then get rude or pushy, giving me an excellent excuse to hang up on them quickly.  Others are polite and friendly, and start angling for future business.  I'm willing to talk for a ( Read more... )

I suppose answering the question "well, it's more of a derivative of an earlier language called Oak, which itself was an attempt to fuse some aspects of LISP into C++, but with the regularization of inheritance similar to the Modula-3 language, which itself was inspired by Pascal" would probably just not work well with a headhunter.

Well, hopefully she's not driving the car and using the cell phone, she might nod off at 'Modula-3 language' and crash into the guard rail.

Just curious, since I work for a boutique tech-recruiting firm.

You don't use outside recruiters because:

A) You don't have any hard-to-fill positions
B) Your HR department is filled with rock-star recruiters
C) "It's just policy"
D) Other (please specify)

(D) We're a very small company, so we don't have an HR department that does recruiting. We (the managers) recruit for our own open positions, and for each others' if we see someone promising. And we do it using our networks through local tech groups, past jobs, and so forth, supplemented by e.g. Craigslist.

When we can't find the right person that way, we've gone to recruiters now and then in the past, but usually we've had pretty good success on the DIY route.

If so could you drop me an offline note to raven (at) jestyr (dot) com

Thanks Bro.
