Huzzah to Mayo Family Wineries, maker of Lynne's Cuvee, a syrah newly released at the winery--it just was awarded a Gold Medal from the San Francisco Chronicle!  It's actually named for me, proving I'm an official Californian.

They're having a discount weekend on the 24th & 25th at their Glen Ellen location.  It doubles discounts for us wine ( Read more... )

As a resident, you go wherever The Match results send you. (you rank the places where you interviewed in the order in which you'd like to go and the programs rank their interviewees also and a computer makes a Best Fit match) I match into a program in Brooklyn. The program got shut down just prior to when I would arrive. Therefore I had to find a new residency. After doing a bunch of legwork and interview at USC, I went to USC for plastic surgery. Then we decided to move to Sacramento when I was recruited here for work. And we're NOT LEAVING. We've always loved San Francisco and wine country as we've traveled for conferences. Ironic that we legitemately got to move here!

And that's the story.

Mayo makes yummy stuff! Now I want to hear the story on why it's named after you.

So we're in Mayo's wine club and we're at a pick up party. The Winemaker says they have a bunch of syrah grapes that they want to do something with but they don't have a name for it yet. (Normally they name their wines after family or occasionally someone who works at the winery) Got any ideas? My husband pipes up, "How about 'Lynne's Cuvee?'" The Winemaker said he liked the sound of that and could he call me closer to bottling time. And he did. And we did it. I was totally geeked!

It literally says that it's dedicated to their good friend, Lynne Hackert, on the back of the label too. Believe me, when the economy got tough and we had to scale back our memberships, I was NOT going to cancel this one!

And we're all living happily ever after.

And I enjoy Chicken Vet stories! (Sounds like a superhero, but I can't quite imagine what sort of sidekick you'd have...) Really--it takes me back to when we used to raise chickens in Michigan when I was little. Even had a pet chicken, Charlie, who sat on my shoulder. He tasted good in the end.
