I've never read any of Bruce Coville's stuff (he worte 'My teachers an alien' or whatever it's called, right?) but his mom used to cut my hair when I was a kid.

While it does have its faults, Wicked is a great introduction into the world of musical theatre. If you ever get the chance I would definitely go see it.
