I am very sorry that I triggered you. But I never mocked her about anything. I just wanted her--the 18yo--to stop touching the younger kids when they asked her to. (Fewer tantrums would also have been nice, but it was the unwelcome touching that really bothered me.)

I'm so sorry for your loss. My father died a few months ago, and while I realize that losing a parent as an adult is not at all the same thing, I can sympathize. If it hurt me this much at 30, I can't imagine the hurt someone would feel at 9. Thanks for sharing your story.

I'm trying to catch up on LJ this morning and I just read your post. It was heart-breaking and beautiful and touched me deeply. I have students going through the same thing - thanks for helping me understand them a little bit better.
