Someone called Nance on a blog I read made, what I think, is the perfect comment:
There is NO bill or Act -- NONE WHATSOEVER -- whose terms or policy could be so egregious that its defunding or repeal justifies the economic devastation a government shutdown would cause at this point in time.
I don't care if Congress is debating invading Canada and Mexico at the same time using troops under the age of 14 with Nerf weapons and refusing to feed them -- even that would not justify holding the operations of our government hostage.
Every single member of Congress who is holding the operations of government hostage (over a law that was passed by both houses of Congress, signed by the President, upheld by the Supreme Court, and upheld against repeal efforts an embarrassing number of times) should be impeached and removed for failing to uphold their oaths of office.
There are access roads with gates and locks, and maybe close to civilization there would be a fence, but out in the back country, nothing. People camping in the back country are supposed to sign in and get permits, so theoretically, the rangers know where people are going to be hiking and camping, and how long they expect to be out, but finding them just to kick them out? And within two days? Highly unlikely. Now, if they return to their cars to find themselves locked in the park, I dunno what they're supposed to do.
