I wouldn't be surprised if you were right. You hit the nail on the head about the perceived unfriendliness of Mainers as well..."where folks are always nice to your face" describes many places I've been and lived...but I'd rather know where I stand and have a bit of honesty and fairness than a phoney smile any day.

Me, too! Not that I'm not going to be working for it.

A lot of Mainers are bullshit artists, so they tend to have a pretty finely tuned sense of when someone is trying to load them up. They also:
1. Hate being told what to do by people "from away,"
2. A large number of them who just plain won't do as they're told, and
3. They're big on live and let live around here, as well.

I think there is an excellent chance.
