Is that common for vampires? Working freelance?

Nah, vampires usually work in hives. Nests. It's a filthy practice.

Sounds like you get paid to flash your pretty smile. Doesn't seem half bad to me.

I guess it does sound like that, but I'm expected to do genuine reporting, too.

[He puts down his drink and stands up.]

[A blast of heat vision and the screen clears, leaving only a tiny burn mark on the back where Clark blaster through the outer shell. He sets it down again, gives the antenna a tiny friendly tap, then goes back to his beer.]

[Spike almost wants to be offended, but how can he? General Hospital looks beautiful now.]

Isn't it? I'm sorry about the burn-mark. I could have taken off the back but the catch would probably have broken.

[He drops his head back, with a little sigh. It's good to just...watch TV. Even if his ears are elsewhere. The city's unusually quiet.]
