What I want to know is, why doesn't the part of my brain that calmly accepts that, oh, I'm suddenly living in my parents' house again, or that I am sailing my boat down the interstate, just accept that I am single in my dream???? Darn.
American elk is very similar to what they call red deer in Europe and New Zealand. It is lean meat but still has a very good taste - I like it better than beef, even grass-fed beef.
The dumplings - they are really just these bready THINGS, quite heavy and dense. For some reason I love them, though, and the dill sauce is what makes them so wonderful. Now I want my mother to appear and make them for me!
OMG FOODGASM!!! *drools obnoxiously all over your LJ* (sorry)
Also: Once every year or two I have a dream where I can breathe underwater. The breathing is easy and comfortable, but very slow. It's a marvelous feeling, very serene, a sort of quiet bliss. I wish I could have it on demand. *wistful*
And also: In my mental pictures of you, you're always vibrantly alive and active and virtually fearless -- and nearly always outdoors. :-)
The more you get off your fat ass, the more your fat will get off your ass. (Ancient wisdom from the sage who had to climb up to the damn top of the damn mountain.)

Elk! Whoa :) I have no clue what it tastes like. Actually, I have no clue about those giant dumplings either but it sounds totally fascinating :)
