So! Yuletide! I hope you are all enjoying yourselves wallowing in all the fic. I got an Elfquest story, odorous smoke and breathing flower about Dart (yay Dart!) and I am pleased with the reception of my story, which the recipient seems to like, and it has garnered enough comments that I can bask in the confirmation that the few people familiar ( Read more... )

I thought I saw you had posted on the Amber story!

Hmm. No idea what you wrote ;)

I need to go read the stories you mentioned were written for you! And I have no reason to believe that you would know the fandom I wrote in. I think my story is readable without knowing canon, but not necessarily interesting if you don't know canon, if you take my meaning.

Heh, okay. I, similarly, don't believe you know the fandom I wrote in either, this year!

Thank you very much for the recs, and might I ask, while I'm here: is it worth my reading the Outlander books for Lord John? I love him in his own books very much, but I do find Jamie Fraser very tedious, so I haven't got on with Outlander every time I've tried to read it. I'd be willing to try again if there was more about Lord John, though, so I thought I would ask.

Hmm. I do like Lord John as he appears in the Outlander books which are set considerably post-Lord John series canon (12-15 years, although much of it is not what I would have predicted/written/wanted for him); the bits of his known story which are simply from Jamie's perspective don't really add much, and mostly annoyed me. If you don't like Claire and Jamie, it's tough, though. Here are my Goodreads reviews. Actually, they appear in the next comment, because this is too long.

Hey, thanks! I'll bear all of that in mind. I think probably I will end up reading them next time I fly long-haul somewhere. (Awww, Lord John. He is so adorable. I re-read Hand of Devils last night and remembered how mch I do love him.)

Yay, thank you for the recs. I'd had Gillyflowers open in a tab already but hadn't seen the NPR one and I'm excited about it.
