mostly yays

Oct 14, 2009 20:04

I was going to post some yays and boos, or + and - as the cool kids are doing, but really, there is only one boo in my life right now, and that is that I am still sick dammit. But! Good things!

♥ Some sweet anonymous person gave me a cephalopod Cthulu with a pencil and flowers virtual gift! Isn't that the cutest thing? Awww ( Read more... )

Ooh, Ivanhoe! I remember absolutely loving it when I was little for some reason...though not having The Hero end up with the gorgeous minority brunette was always a bit of a sore point for me. ;) I may have to reread it since you mentioned it now.

I nominated pretty much all shows...don't know what I'm going to offer yet this year though!

Oh, I think that the Ivanhoe "fandom" (not that there is one, but I mean, the people in fandom who like Ivanhoe) really springs from that - that Rebecca of York is the awesomest woman ever, and that Ivanhoe was really in love with her, but alas, doomed from the start. Certainly my request will basically be "write something about Rebecca".

Did you ever read William Makepeace Thackeray's horrible, horrible fanfiction of Ivanhoe?

It's entitled Rebecca and Rowena.

I'm definitely signing up for yuletide this year. Going back and forth a bit on my nominations. Is there any good reason to nominate a fandom if it's already been nominated?

Good job for hittig the deadline on remixthedrabble!

Well, if someone changes their minds and un-nominates (that is, selects another set of fandoms) a fandom could disappear from the list. So the best thing to do is to nominate the fandoms you'd really want to either request or write, just in case.

I had a lot of difficulty with remixthedrabble this go-round for some reason. But I'm glad I did it.

The Captain Alatriste series is NOT ON THAT LIST YET. I shall remedy this. ("Alatriste" is, but that's the film, not the books, and I want my CA fic in the style of the books, darnit.)

Haha, I totally forgot about Alatriste. Maybe it's because I can't imagine what I would write or request. It would be fun to write in the style of the books, though.

I've only read the first three - every time I think about getting the fourth it's checked out of the library. I kind of want to simultaneously get the translation and the original - my library has #4 and #5 - and try to read it in Spanish.

What kind of story would you like to see from Alatriste?

Oh, you know me, slashy slash, except nothing too explicit. I'd really love to see Inigo/Alatriste written from Inigo's point of view, same style as the books, tasteful and modest.

Well? Are you going to nom it? Because if you don't I might have to. Now you have me craving fic.
