I doubt that many people on my foflist are into LotR, alas for both me and you. I suppose you could try sieving stories by date, that is, only reading those written pre-movie. But I suspect that the movie characterizations (and other changes to the stories, la la la) inform the fandom pretty thoroughly. I mean, have you ever read an HP story where Lucius wasn't substantially based on Jason Isaacs? (I have seen ONE piece of fanart of Lucius with short hair, made before the movies.)
Yay! Anyway, to sort of answer your previous question, I will say that I did enjoy nearly all of the stories at the House of Hobbits (I did not read all of them, but most) despite not really being interested in Frodo/Sam as a pairing. The author makes it work very well, and the language and details clearly draw on book canon. Even the explicit stuff reads like the genuine article, although for these stories I preferred the PG and R ones in general.
oooh, I'm going to watch this post. I remember looking for Aragorn/Boromir a couple of years ago and not finding much. Hopefully you'll have better luck.
I have read some at that archive, but so far I haven't found anything I'd rec. What I really want is something rich with UST and unspoken desires. You know?
