My exhaustion can, apparently, be textually rendered. See subject line.

I'm constitutionally unable to sleep in (or to sleep for more than three hours at a stretch, it seems) so I am sitting in my bed, drinking coffee, and reading lj on my laptop. My lovely roommate katallison left yesterday, so I am all by my lonesome, but I can sense the presence of ( Read more... )

Actually, I should tell you that after rewatching the first few Sharpe movies, I reread your Yuletide story with the letter from Teresa to Antonia! It feels very much like canon.

I saw your post about Sharpe! I can only say YAY. And thank you so much!

Also - gwyn_r has a Sharpe/Teresa vid on her site that I just downloaded and watched and I have tears in my eyes now. If you haven't seen it, you should!

Thanks for the reminder about that vid. I know I downloaded it when I first got into Sharpe a few years ago, but haven't watched it again this time around. I remember it being lovely.

My favourite Sharpe vid is przed's The Soldiering Life, just in case you haven't seen it.

Your subject line is adorable. Hee!

If you did wind up writing up your notes for Vidding for Beginners panel, I'd be interested. *eyes partially finished vid* (The opening of my vid and I, we're not on speaking terms. I think I'm going to have to scrap it and start that section over, woe.)

sdwolfpup had a handout that I hope she'll post on the bitchinparty community. I did not take a lot of notes, but here are the most important things I took from it:

Convert your audio (or rip directly) to .wav for usage in your vidding program. It works better than .mp3 because of compression issues.

Rip video from disk (if you have that source) with DVDdecrypter into VOB format; clip with VirtualDubMod into .avi. Again, compression issues. Oh, and clip without audio because it will help you notice motion and action and expression without the distraction of dialogue which you're not going to use anyway.

Cutting on the beat (the holy grail :-) does not mean new clip on the beat (although it can) - it means important motion on the beat. Either internal (what the characters do) or external (motion of the camera). I suspect this is going to be the "answer" for why parts of my vid are problematic - I thought it meant literally "cut" on the beat, i.e. new scene.

Thanks!

Looking at this, I think I'm already doing this stuff, so yay! Of course I am lucky in that I live with a vidder, so when it came time to convert audio and rip my clips and so forth I had someone who a) had all the tools already, and b) could walk me through it. So helpful!

I too thought that cutting on the beat always referred to "new clip on the beat". Hmmm! But this is good, because it means that I've got a whole lot more cutting on the beat than I had previously though. \o/ (I think it is because of the aforementioned living with a vidder thing. She helps a lot.)

(I watched my vid again yesterday, and while it confirmed that the opening sucked as much as I remember, the last section I'd been working on is totally more awesome than I remembered. Yay! Victory pompoms! *\o/*!)

I suspect this is going to be the "answer" for why parts of my vid are problematic - I thought it meant literally "cut" on the beat, i.e. new scene.Interesting! Well, that seems like an easy thing to fix? Not quick, but something easy to get a ( ... )

Oh, man, it's so glorious running at sea level while still adapted to altitude. You guys have so much air down here!

*rotf*

I will let you know if I ever get near your area, and then I can try running at altitude. *G*

Of course, the flip side is that it feels so nice and easy and I'm not breathing hard, and then the next day my legs ache because they're not used to running so fast!

Half-marathon in June. I'm just sayin'.

Bwah! Best subject line ever! *\o/*

It was so much fun meeting you and your tentacle! I mean, what's not to love about a soft fuzzy green tentacle with functional suction cups that bestow chocolate upon lucky fangirls...? ♥

And it was fun meeting you, too. Tentacle agrees.
