For Adblocking, have you tried the adblock extension for firefox?

I find it more useful than the greasemonkey equivs.

(then again, I don't like greasemonkey, so perhaps I'm biased.)

What's not to like about Greasemonkey? (I admit I'm a little biased for a very stupid reason - when I install extensions I have to reboot, and I usually have a lot going on so I hate rebooting!)

security.

I don't need the scripting capability, and I honestly don't trust 3rd party greasemonkey scripts. (I barely trust 3rd party firefox extensions :-) ).

Witness the major greasemonkey security hole last year...the one where any malicious website could read any file on your hard drive.

Admittedly you run this risk for every piece of software that you install, but things that you attach to your browser can be extra problematic, since most pieces of SW don't actively connect out to other machines on the 'net :-)

...but I'm fairly paranoid about computer security (worked in the field for awhile), so take me with a grain of salt :-)

Thanks for reminding me that I really needed to update Semagic. I was using a version that didnt' have nearly so much cool features. I don't think I'm ready to start playing with greasemonkey and scripts yet. Baby steps. ;)
