skype?

I know giantlaser was just talking about this but he's way more savvy than I am so.... My parents want a video chat thang for their grandchildren (my nieces) in San Diego. My sister has Mac notebook, they have an older Dell. Any issues with mac vs pc? Is Skype a pain in the ass? I've heard good things but don't know much about it. Skype is probably the least pain in the ass in general and also works nicely cross-platform. The only problem they may encounter is with the older dell, video chat hogs a TON of resources, so it may be a choppy headache for them.
Most good webcams have a software setting that will adjust the video size and frame rate to match the system profile.

Skype has been good to me for years and years. Now that I have my macbook, I can see that iChat has slightly better video, but otherwise it's pretty kick-ass.
