Aww this was so sweet! I think Sawyer/Claire make cute friends, and even a cute couple.

So, when he approached her later that day, she had looked up at him patiently, with kind eyes and a gentle smile. He didn't scare her

Wanna know a secret? I kinda love the idea of Sawyer/Claire, and while this was Sawyer, Claire, it kinda spoke to the reasons I think they'd work. This was fantastic, I loved your Claire lots.

I really like the Sawyer/Claire dynamic, or, rather, the idea of the Sawyer/Claire dynamic as there isn't very much of it on the show. I love playing with that dynamic, and I'm so glad you liked the results. :)

I know. Weird, huh? There's Claire's Thomas, there's Kate's Tom, there's gay!Tom, there's Christian calling himself Tom...that's a lot of Toms.

You know how much I love both Claire and Sawyer, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I love seeing them together.

Maybe my memory isn't what it used to be, but I can't remember Sawyer being as unpleasant to Claire as he's been with others. At the same time, she's always been fairly polite with him. I love how you bring up Thomas, who looked like such a good boy but turned out to be the lowest kind of coward ever. At least Sawyer has never pretended to be the good guy.

I love seeing them together too. Their dynamic interest me a lot and it's a shame they're not allowed to interact more than they do.

You're right. Over the course of the series, he's pretty much been the nicest to Claire (I think the fact that she's a mother may have a little something to do with it too). I really think he has a soft spot for her, and she really doesn't have much of a reason to dislike him, because of that.
