I think I already love this... Can definitely see this Rose and River bonding over what they've been through. I always like the idea of crossovers between DW and Firefly!

Me too! Some universes wouldn't mesh well, in my opinion, but Firefly and Doctor Who seem like they'd fit together rather well. :D

The primary relationship in this fic is a River/Rose friendship. :D They're both girls who have enormous power and enormous destructive potential, they've both been betrayed and used, they're both looking for something (family, in River's case and the Doctor in Rose's).

Agreed! I've seen a few crossovers that just don't work. But Firefly is is perfect for it.

Yay for Rose and River friendship! :)

*flails happily*

We finally get background info on TLAWR!Rose!! Even if it's dark info. But, more pieces to the puzzle!

I don't know much about Firefly, but I know enough that this is gonna be pretty darn epic. Combining Rose with a trouble-magnet crew like this is gonna be a whole different adventure, and I can't wait to see the shenanigans that ensue when Rose starts to integrate herself with the crew formally. I have a feeling she's going to have to prove herself before anyone trusts her, and vice versa.

Yes! I said I was going to start working on this over the summer, so I am. :D

You should watch Firefly. Seriously, I think it's on Netflix streaming. It's amazing. A lot of people go with the 'super shiny' version of the future, but Firefly exists in the run-down, outer limits of the solar system. In other words--Nathan Fillion is a space-cowboy. And there are space-ships and horses coexisting and it all makes perfect sense. :D

I'm actually sowing the seeds of 'The High Road' in this story. :D

I think I know enough of the series just by reading fanfiction and fanigirling posts to understand the basics of Firefly, even if I don't understand some of the inside jokes. But yes, I will watch it, as soon as I convince my parents that they should let me watch Netflix as well!!

So is TLAWR officially over, or are you taking a break from it? You have reached the end of Season Four but you said something about Waters of Mars at one point, so I'm a bit curious.

TLAWR isn't finished yet, but my muse has been in hiding. I'm hopefully going to be outlining the next chapter tomorrow, which should finish up my rewrite of 'The Next Doctor.' Then I have to get 'The Waters of Mars' back, as I let the boy send it back as it had been at our apartment FOREVER. (For like a month, seriously)

And then it's on to the waters of Mars. Most of the End of Time will be told in the epilogue and through flashbacks in 'The Straight and Narrow Road.' :D

Oh yes, I most heartily agree that these two universes just sort of sing out to each other with their mutual angst and mystery.

Looking forward to more!

...and in case you have not read this particular piece I found it very nicely done and in character for all parties:

I haven't read that, yet, but I will. :D Have you read 'The Engineer's Gift?' It's another good one. And there's one called either 'The Man with No Name' or 'The Man without a Name' that's fantastic.

That is HILARIOUS.

The author must have changed the name and I haven't read either in a while. Which one was it? XP
