Good chapter. Seemed too short, though. I want more to read!

It's rather shorter than I like, but if I didn't cut it where I did it would be very very long. :D The next chapter will make up for it, I promise!

And he doesn't want her thinking about the man who is less than a shadow and more than a wall between them.

The Doctor... is jealous of himself. Why do I find this somewhat hilarious? I know he doesn't realize that, but it amuses me.

And uh-oh. Jeopardy-friendly, running into fire, but I can't blame her this time cause it's for a good cause. But I like how you're still tying canon into an AU, giving Latimer the watch and having Joan join the gang. What's next, the Family of Blood crashing the pub during a birthday party?

To those of us outside the situation it is quite hilarious! :D Of course Rose can't just let herself go with him because she loves the Doctor and he isn't the Doctor, not really. But being jealous of himself, isn't it just so Doctorish? You know 10 was jealous of 9 for a while, before Rose warmed up to him. XP

Ooh, like the birthday party idea! If I didn't have a dastardly plot all ready I just might have yanked that one. XP I find that working canon into an alternate universe story keeps me true to the spirit of Doctor Who. And it's so much fun! :D

Of course Rose would run towards the danger and that the TARDIS key and fob watch would be out of her reach. Poor Rose. You certainly worked Tim Latimer into your AU perfectly.

John is hopelessly in love with Rose and is counting down the days until she leaves with....himself! I find this funny, but sad too because John has no idea he is competing with himself.

I found this very poignant as John connects with Rose on an even deeper level. "Blighters" works so well here.
"Blighters" had always been one of his favorite poems. It was an elegant way to tell someone to shut the fuck up about something they could not comprehend. He'd been in war. He'd seen its devastation in a way that only someone who had walked in the dust could. The way she said it, the tone of her voice and the tightness of her lips betrayed a knowledge that he never thought she would have. She had walked in the dust. And now she was looking at him like he'd dribbled on his shirt.

Thank you for another great chapter!

Siegfried Sassoon is one of my favorite poets, and "Blighters" is definitely one of his best poems. :D Paul Fussell wrote an interesting book called 'The Great War and Modern Memory,' and even if you're not seriously into history, it's an intriguing read. It's all about how soldiers wrote about World War I.

The whole situation is so messed up. It makes for a great deal of conflict, which makes for lots of fun for us! :D

Thanks! :D The Doctor is always a bit slow on the emotional uptake.

Thanks! Tim was kind of fun to write, especially as I was able to make him older! :D
