When I read that part about Romana and Susan, I nearly had a heart attack. I knew it was a dream within a dream, but I panicked for a moment there.

And this was sad:

"You can come out," he called, holding his hands in front of him to show that he was unarmed. "I won't hurt you."

"Yes you will," she replied, the smile gone, but she walked around the stone to stand in front of him anyway. "You won't mean to, but you will."

Even in his dream, he still thinks he will hurt her. Poor Doctor. He needs a lot of hugs!

There's quite a bit of guilt layered in his character, along with the conviction that he ruins lives. He needs many hugs, and he needs to remember that his companions make their own choices. They aren't sheep led to the slaughter, they're people with minds of their own.

I was hesitant about including Romana and Susan, but I think they would have figured into his perfect dream world type thing--one where Gallifrey is still there and he doesn't have nearly as much weight on his shoulders.

Oh oh oh, parts of this were so sad. Blaming himself like he always does. And Rose using the power of Bad Wolf to save them both. Nicely done. Can't wait to see where it goes.

I can't keep the Doctor sad forever, but he can get pretty emo. :D Memories have power, especially when you're trapped in the mind.

Thank you!

It was a lot of fun writing the Doctor's dream sequences. Rose's were more straightforward because, well, she's human, but he's got that great big brain with a great big subconscious and all those issues to play with. :D
